The Harvesting is about a girl named Layla who teaches sword fighting, but while she is teaching the class Layla gets a call from her grandmother telling her to come home now. When she gets home her grandmother tells her to get supplies and then all of sudden Layla passes out and when she wakes up the town is in an up roar because zombies come alive. Layla now has to survive the zombies with the help from her old lover and the town people who are not infected.
The book started off with an interesting twist. Layla gets a call from her grandmother telling her that she needs to come home but when she arrives she notices that her grandmother is not around but she does find her grandmothers list that looks like a grocery list. After Layla got the supplies and went back home, her grandmother was there and handed her a cup of tea. When she finished the tea, Layla started to feel sleepy and went to bed. She woke up the next morning to find her grandmother dead and someone pounding on her door. When Layla opened it she saw her old lover’s brother who pulled her into a hug that showed that he was glad that she was alive. He then explained that the town has been turned into zombies. I give this book 5 out of 5 and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good zombie book
